Gary’s story is a call to us all to protect the life we have yet to live

Gary Gallagher was a 20-year-old with the world at his feet. A talented football player and kick boxer he was enjoying the “high life” working for a successful scaffolding company on the sets of movies such as Braveheart and Trainspotting.

Then one July day while pricing up a job as part of the restoration of a former hotel his life would change forever.

A 32 ft fall from the roof of the hotel onto the cobbled street below had Gary fighting for his life.

A life that was now flashing before his eyes as his broken body decided whether or not he would pull through.

“Life” tells the story of a young man’s horrific experience of an accident at work and his near miraculous recovery from a catalogue of life threatening injuries.

But more than being just another accident victims story “Life” gives us all hope. The hope that we can all understand what safety at work is truly all about.

It’s not just about the rules or procedures but protecting the life you have yet to live.

Today is the start of the rest of your life.

Live if wisely live it safely.
