Training: teamwork
independent culture
We challenge conventional misconceptions about safety:
- An accident will never happen to me
- It must be safe because I’ve always done things this way and I have never had an accident
- Risks are necessary to get the job done
The key to our training is motivating people to behave safely because they want to, whether or not a manager is watching. And we give them the tools to change the way they think about safety. People quickly come to accept the idea that if they think for themselves they can prevent themselves from being injured.
“I can prevent my injury”
This workshop is designed to follow our leadership in safety and discussion and feedback workshops after a reasonable gap. Teamwork training is much more effective if people can see their leaders’ commitment to behavioural safety.
The workshop
- An introduction to behavioural safety
- The critical link between behaviour and culture
- Case study: Ken Woodward’s accident and what we can learn from it (using the film Hindsight – The Ken Woodward Story)
- Exploring the health & safety culture
- Five practical ideas to adopt on the theme of “I can prevent my injury” including learning points from the film Lessons from a Blind School
- Review and completion of a Key Safe Behaviours card which participants take away with them
- A commitment to safe working
What the workshop delivers
- Increased awareness of importance of behaviour
- A practical insight into behaving more safely
- An understanding of how to keep yourself safe
- A commitment to safe working
Target audience
All members of the workforce.
